Decorating with Old Windows
When we moved into our home I was lucky enough to meet a neighbor who was giving away a bunch of old windows. Free windows?!? That is a no brainer. My husband came home to a stack of windows in the garage and asked what I was planning on doing with all of them. His skepticism towards my stack of windows immediately made me want to prove a point and use them all throughout the house. So began my mission.
The first place I wanted to decorate was a large wall in the dining room. I had purchased some shutters and wanted to use them together. My plan was to mount them on the wall, add a wreath to the window and change it season to season.
The next place I wanted to decorate was the fireplace. It was bare and I had a lot of space to fill. I had placed a Coke crate on there and been playing around with it. It was not until I placed a window behind the crate that it really helped complete the space! This is another spot that I like to change season to season.
One of my favorite window projects!
Our little entryway was in dire need of some character. We had an old table in there that we threw everything on and just looked cluttered and took up too much space. I tend to always have pallet wood around and found two pieces that would make a perfect shelf. This shelf was super easy to make. I will have a separate blog post on this piece soon!
Now we have a super cute place to hang our keys or jackets in the entryway!
This window was missing the two center pieces of glass. It didn’t work anywhere else with the glass missing so I decided too add some photos to the panes that did have the glass.
I still have one or two windows in the garage, but I did manage to use most of them! I proved my point and I decorated a lot of my house for free, win win! Do you have other ways you like to decorate using windows? I am always looking for new ideas and inspiration!
It looks great, love your blog
